How it Works

Now available on the Treasure Coast! I’ve launched a consultation business to help local restaurants develop gluten-free menus. As a gluten-free home cook and blogger, I have tons of recipes ready to convert for restaurant service. As a local restaurant customer, I’m not impressed with my current options for gluten-free dining.

Celiac and gluten-intolerant customers rarely dine out for two main reasons. The primary risk is cross-contamination in restaurant kitchens. Additionally, knowledge of which ingredients contain gluten is often spotty for both cooks and servers. I’ve developed a program to train all restaurant staff to understand ingredients and safe preparation of their menus to prevent risks of cross-contamination from gluten and other allergens.

 As part of my consultation services:

  • I’ll work closely with the owner and head chef of the restaurant to eliminate cross-contamination risks. This includes equipment and kitchen arrangement, storage of ingredients, and changing of gloves.
  • We’ll work together to determine which recipes can best be executed in the restaurant’s kitchen.
  • I’ll use my degree in graphic design to create a new menu for the restaurant to include a designation of gluten-free items, plus a separate gluten-free menu, all using The Deglutenizer branding elements.
  • I’ll add the restaurant to my Restaurant Partners page on restaurants.thedeglutenizer.com. This will include photos of the restaurant, a .pdf of the restaurant’s gluten-free menu, mapped location, customer reviews, and our joint promise that we’re doing everything in our power to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • I’ll inspect each restaurant four times per year to ensure safe practices are being followed. I will recommend anyone not performing optimally for retraining.
  • I’ll perform an additional inspection if I receive a complaint from a diner that the restaurant may not be following safe practices.
  • I’ll market my partnership with each restaurant on multiple social media platforms. Posts will highlight each restaurant’s story, gluten-free offerings, inspection results, and reviews from customers about how much they love the new gluten-free options.

Soon, several Treasure Coast restaurants will advertise “gluten-free menu presented by (the restaurant) and The Deglutenizer.” Diners will begin to associate “The Deglutenizer” with safe and delicious gluten-free dining. Eventually customers will start trying new restaurants because of their partnership with The Deglutenizer and its positive brand identity.
